Slow Lane owner Li Hui’s passion for Chinese handicrafts dates back more than thirty years ago, when as a teenager she learned to make Chinese button knots. Her appreciation of knots then blossomed into her love of antique buttons, and she now has a large and eclectic collection of silver that is either pure, gilded or enameled. These items form the base for her jewelry-making. Hui’s collection of antique jewelry later branched into antique Chinese locks, hairpins, hat ornaments, bracelets and rings made of kingfisher, silver, gilded silver and enameled silver. Turning old pieces into something that can be worn proudly with modern attire is Hui’s passion, hence achieving a blending of classical and modern jewelry.
